Critical Perspectives: Kill Bill: Volume 1

Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill: Volume 1 is a vibrant and colourful film that uses outrageous, over the top violence and inspiration from different film genres (e.g. spaghetti westerns and samurai flicks). The film follows Uma Thurman's character, known only as The Bride, as she seeks revenge against the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad for murdering her fiance and unborn child on the day of her wedding. The use of colour, music and cinematography make the film visually stunning and vastly enjoyable to watch, despite the plot being very simple. Had anyone else attempted to make this film, without Tarantino's style and inspirations, it would have failed to capture the interest of any audience.
