So my first thoughts are around the audiences experience of your 'Guide' - there's a sense in what you write here that what you're making are 3D assets for 2D illustration maybe, but you also go on to suggest there'd be some animation too. I think there's lots of potential in this idea, and perhaps we need to free up the 'end game' a little as you enhance your understanding of some of the ideas in and around your idea, namely bestiaries and zoological illustration/taxonomy traditions etc. There's a lovely visual tradition of classifying animals (and collecting the weird and the wonderful) - some things to look at:

The wunderkammer or cabinet of curiosities
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biological_illustration
Also look at the genre of illustrated a-to-zs:
Bestiaries more generally:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bestiary
http://bestiary.ca
tutorphilhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11842833126210822641noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8126742240978492524.post-79941664700836508502017-08-28T12:08:06.084-07:002017-08-28T12:08:06.084-07:00Hi Phil! The project I'd most like to go into is "A Guide to Cryptids" :)Nel Spencehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14867400838912072449noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8126742240978492524.post-37663434491889506352017-08-28T11:10:00.493-07:002017-08-28T11:10:00.493-07:00Evening Eleanor... okay, well I think 'Cassie&...Evening Eleanor... okay, well I think 'Cassie' is too epic in terms of a story to be made, but also 'too epic' to be reduced to a premise that just gives rise to some Maya assets and an Art Of. For me, the final year is an opportunity to achieve something that is a complete experience, and my preference is always for work that manages this for other people; after all, a well managed project for a narrative short or similarly 'complete' work should give rise to a detailed art of and some gorgeous 3D assets. I think you've got some strong ideas here (Cassie excepted, not because the idea isn't fascinating, but rather because I think it's too big even for the minor/major combination). Of the alternate 3, which is the one that speaks to you most credibly as something that might sustain you for this prolonged creative period?tutorphilhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11842833126210822641noreply@blogger.com
